India generates 165 million tonnes of waste annually, yet structured waste education is still lacking. Waste mismanagement and air pollution are pressing concerns, particularly for children, who are among the most vulnerable. Swachh Mohalla Squad bridges the gap between awareness and action, offering young learners engaging activities and practical insights to tackle these challenges. Implemented across 100 schools in Ghaziabad, the guidebook integrates scientific learning with real-world problem-solving.
As part of this initiative, teachers from 100 schools have been trained, and a pre- and post-assessment is being conducted to measure student learning and behavioral shifts. If successful, Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam and Chintan aim to expand this model across the state, integrating waste management into mainstream education. By equipping students with the knowledge and tools to reduce waste and pollution, Swachh Mohalla Squad is shaping a generation of responsible, action-oriented citizens committed to creating cleaner, healthier communities.
