A successful project that promoted digital literacy among 200 children through free computer classes

This was implemented in January 2023 among 145 girls and 55 boys between the ages of 10-21 in Bhopura, Ghaziabad. Most of the kids were children of daily wage laborers. The project followed a no pen-and-paper policy to make the children familiar with the fast-pacing digital world. Digital education is very relevant today but unfortunately, less than one-third of children in India have basic computer literacy.

Digital education is a privilege that many children in India cannot afford.

The joint project by Chintan and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) Foundation concentrated on covering basic themes like computer operation, word processing, spreadsheets, introduction to the internet and web browsers, communications, making small presentations, cyber ethics, online privacy, and financial literacy.

This benefited many, especially those from low-income backgrounds who have limited access to computers or the privilege of it, like Vivek, a 14-year-old boy from Bhopura, who happily claims that the digital classes cleared his concepts and now he has a strong knowledge of computers.
