The informal recycling sector in India deserves acknowledgment

The informal recycling sector makes up 1-2% of the urban population.

There are around 15 lakh waste pickers in India, yet a very small percentage is officially registered.

Not only do they clean up our mess, but most of them use environmentally friendly modes of transportation to do so. They deserve recognition, legal status, fair pay and access to resources.
