Awareness & Exposure Reduction by training outdoor workers, schools and residents

Chintan trains and creates awareness on air pollution for outdoor workers, such as waste pickers, municipal workers and security guards, as well as those who remain indoors such as Residents’ Associations, schools, and security service providers.

Urban Local Bodies and the other organizations are trained to recognize the health risks and support policy shifts to reduce exposure. Campaigns are carried out to draw attention to workplace air quality, ambient and indoor air quality, adverse effects of air pollution on health, etc., to drive behaviour change and the ability to advocate for themselves with decision makers, while also learning to protect themselves where possible.

The public is educated on climate change and taking pro-active science- based steps to build community resilience. Workshops are conducted with the public, including youth, on taking community leadership based on advocating for change as well as taking tangible action.

Training the most vulnerable youth, including girls, on climate change including the gendered and inequitable impacts on their communities, is key to enable them to participate in public discourse and seek innovative solutions to adapt and build resilience.
