The annual battle against air pollution

November is the scariest month in Delhi. Every year there is a record-breaking deterioration in the Air Quality Index (AQI) during this time. The level of pollution in Delhi is far higher than the World Health Organization safety threshold. The poisonous PM2.5 particles that dominate the Delhi air can cause deadly diseases including cancer and other cardiac and pulmonary problems.

Air pollution claimed about 54000 lives in 2020 in India’s National Capital

The recurring tragedy of addressing this severe problem is that it always descends into a blame game. What we need is healthy, breathable air and a long-term solution to this problem.
